Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • The student will be able to apply the fundamental concepts of the design language to the analysis of the interior space.
  • The student will be able to conceive the space as an element of a more comprehensive composition.
  • The student will be able to perceive and analyze the network of relations between the spaces forming the spatial organization.
  • The student will be able to assess the formal properties of the environment.
  • The student will be able to appreciate the environment in terms of the sensory experiences it provides.

1 Introduction: What is space; main architectural components defining interior space, their properties (form, position, orientation), and main types of organization. / What is sense; what are the roles of senses in perceiving space?
2 The role of sight in the design of interior space; spatial qualities/components addressing the eyesight (color).
3 The role of sight in the design of interior space; spatial qualities/components addressing the eyesight (light/shadow/shade, transparency)
4 The role of touch in the design of interior space; spatial qualities/components addressing the tactile sense (texture, pattern)
5 The role of touch in the design of interior space; spatial qualities/components addressing the tactile sense (material)
